I got out of the hospital yesterday, but am not out of the woods yet. They put in a stent, which holds the blocked artery open, but I still have an irregular heart beat. It skips beats sometimes and does double beats other times and pretty much just does whatever it gets the urge to do. They tell me it may straighten out by itself after a few weeks. If it doesn't, then I'll have to go back into the hospital to get a pacemaker put in.
I'm 45 years old. Definitely too young for a pacemaker. (Too young for a heart attack, too!)
Please keep me in your prayers over the next few weeks. Pray that the damaged part of my heart can heal enough that I won't need a pacemaker. I've gotten to the point now where I can accept it if I have to have one, but I'd really rather not.
I'll keep you up to date on my progress, as well as including health information as I learn it. I've never paid much attention to such things, which is probably why I'm in the shape I'm in.
Below, you can see a couple photos of the blocked artery that started the whole thing. The one on the left is how it was when I came into the hospital. The one the right was after they put in the stent. It definitely makes a difference.
